Trump Advocates for State-Managed Disaster Relief

President Donald Trump, during his first presidential trip of his second administration, visited hurricane-battered North Carolina on Friday. While speaking to reporters, Trump suggested that states should take primary responsibility for managing disasters, criticizing the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for “letting the country down.”

Trump explained his perspective, saying, “I like the concept of when North Carolina gets hit, the governor takes care of it. When Florida gets hit, the governor takes care of it. Meaning the states take care of it.” He further emphasized his preference for state-led disaster management, stating, “Let the states take care of the tornadoes and the hurricanes and all of the other things that happen.”

When asked about federal aid for North Carolina and California, Trump confirmed that his administration would handle the aid distribution directly instead of relying on FEMA: “The aid will go through us. So rather than going through FEMA, it will go through us.”

Enrique Tarrio Thanks Trump for Clemency

In his first interview post-release from prison, Enrique Tarrio, leader of the Proud Boys, expressed gratitude to Donald Trump for pardoning him after his conviction related to the January 6 Capitol riot. Speaking to Alex Jones on InfoWars, Tarrio stated, “[Trump] literally gave me my life back.”

Tarrio signaled his intention for retribution, saying, “The people who did this need to feel the heat. They need to be put behind bars and prosecuted.” He added that the group’s focus would be on ensuring that “the next four years set us up for the next 100 years.”

Since their release, far-right militia groups like the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers are regrouping and strategizing to rebuild momentum, emboldened by the pardons granted to insurrectionists.

Restrictions Imposed on Oath Keepers Founder Stewart Rhodes

A federal judge has barred Stewart Rhodes, former leader of the Oath Keepers militia group, and other January 6 defendants from entering Washington, D.C., or the U.S. Capitol without court approval. The order follows Rhodes’ visit to the Capitol after being released under Trump’s clemency.

Rhodes was convicted of seditious conspiracy and sentenced to 18 years in prison. The court order also applies to other convicted members of the group.

Trump Surveys California Fire Damage

President Trump is set to visit Los Angeles to inspect wildfire damage and reportedly invited Democratic Senator Adam Schiff to join him. Schiff, a vocal critic of Trump, declined the invitation, citing the need to remain in Washington for a vote. Trump remarked, “I don’t know [if Schiff is going]. If he’s there, it would be cheaper, but I didn’t invite him. Somebody did.”

Congresswoman Stansbury Criticizes Elon Musk’s Government Efficiency Initiative

Congresswoman Melanie Stansbury, the top Democrat on a subcommittee overseeing the “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE), raised concerns about the initiative backed by Elon Musk. In an interview with CNN, Stansbury alleged that Musk’s efforts aim to benefit wealthy businesses rather than improve efficiency. She noted, “They’re going to use DOGE to eviscerate the federal workforce and restructure the government as a personal piggy bank for Elon Musk.”

Expanded Military Presence at the US-Mexico Border

The Trump administration is reportedly considering deploying up to 10,000 troops to the US-Mexico border and constructing detention facilities for migrants on military bases. According to an internal Customs and Border Protection memo, the administration plans to significantly increase detention capacity and assist CBP with additional resources and infrastructure.

Republican Proposes Amendment for Trump’s Third Term

Republican Congressman Andy Ogles has proposed a constitutional amendment to allow Donald Trump to serve a third term. Ogles justified his proposal by praising Trump’s leadership and claiming it is essential for reversing national decline. The amendment would exclude former presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama from running again. Given the difficulty of amending the Constitution, it remains uncertain if the proposal will gain traction.

Deportation Flights Begin Under Trump Administration

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced the commencement of deportation flights under Trump’s new administration, sharing images of people boarding military aircraft. Leavitt stated, “President Trump is sending a strong and clear message to the entire world: if you illegally enter the United States, you will face severe consequences.”

The administration’s stringent immigration policies have stirred fear in immigrant communities across the U.S., with reports of increased raids and deportation measures targeting sanctuary cities like Chicago.
