Nigerian Cyclist Stuns at Olympics with Unbelievable 11-Second Sprint

Nigerian cyclist Ese Ukpeseraye shocked the world at the Paris Olympics, setting a remarkable 200-metre flying lap time of 11.652 seconds.

Despite not having trained on a velodrome for over a year, Ukpeseraye achieved her fastest lap ever, riding on a borrowed bike.

Ukpeseraye was a surprise entry in the women's Individual Sprint after Egypt lost their place due to a disqualification.

With no track bikes available, the German team generously lent Ukpeseraye a specially-engineered bike for her Olympic races.

"The bike was fantastic," Ukpeseraye said, expressing gratitude for the support that helped her feel comfortable on the track.

Nigeria's velodrome, though one of the best in Africa, is often unavailable for training due to its misuse as a venue for other events.

Ukpeseraye hopes her Olympic performance will inspire Nigeria to invest in track cycling and properly utilize their world-class velodrome.

Her story is a powerful reminder of what can be achieved with determination, even in the face of challenging circumstances.
