Why use this tool?

Reading long articles on screen can be tiring, and not everyone processes text best by sight. Read Aloud uses your browser's built-in voice engine to read any pasted text back to you — useful for proofreading your own writing, multitasking while you listen, or just resting your eyes.

How it works

  1. Paste an article, email, or any block of text into the box.
  2. Pick a voice and reading speed from the controls.
  3. Press play — the current word highlights as it's read, so you can follow along.

Frequently asked questions

Does this work offline?Once the page has loaded, yes — the actual text-to-speech happens through your browser's own voice engine, not a server.
Can it read languages other than English? It can, as long as your browser or device has a voice installed for that language. The voice list shown depends on what's available on your system.
Is there a length limit? No hard limit is enforced, but very long texts may behave differently across browsers since long-running speech synthesis isn't perfectly consistent everywhere.
